Mono Pot — Large Handcrafted Terracotta Water Pot
Details
Some objects need styling and context to make sense in a room. The Mono Pot doesn’t ask for any of that — it just needs floor or counter space, and it does the rest of the work on its own. This large hand-formed terracotta water pot carries a quiet, singular presence, the kind of piece where the craft itself is the entire statement rather than any applied decoration.
Shaping clay at this scale is a genuinely different undertaking than a standard-sized pot — it takes considerably longer to build, dry, and fire, and the clay’s behaviour inside the kiln becomes harder to predict as the piece grows larger. Master artisans in Rajasthan working with techniques refined over generations are the ones who can reliably navigate that unpredictability, and even then, not every firing produces a pot that survives intact. The ones that do earn their place.
Fill it with fresh water and it performs exactly as clay vessels have for centuries — the porous walls cool water gradually through evaporation, keeping it genuinely pleasant to drink without refrigeration or filtration. Positioned in a kitchen, dining space, or verandah, its matte, completely unglazed surface grounds whatever room it sits in with a warmth that only handmade material seems to carry.
This is a limited piece by nature rather than by marketing — production is genuinely capped by how many large-format pots survive the kiln in any given batch, which makes owning one less about acquiring an object and more about catching one that made it through. The stainless steel tap fitted at the base is a practical concession to daily use, letting the pot function as an actual working water source rather than a purely decorative vessel too precious to touch.
