Terracotta Ganesha Statue — Handcrafted Clay Ganesha with Chatri & Mushak

Ganesha almost never appears without Mushak, the small mouse at his feet — not as a sidekick, but as a symbol for intellect that needs wisdom to keep it pointed the right direction. This piece keeps that pairing: the lord seated above in formal posture, Mushak positioned below him, a hand-built chatri overhead threaded with clay beads that respond to the faintest breeze.

Most of the fine detail work goes into the face — painted eyes, a visible tilak mark, an expression that lands closer to calm than stern. The four arms hold the expected mudras and objects, and the crown-and-necklace detailing across the torso is the kind of thing that only shows up when an artisan isn’t rushing the piece, even after making dozens like it before.

That overhead canopy earns its keep practically as well as visually — it gives the statue genuine vertical presence on a shelf, more than a standard tabletop Ganesha figure manages, without asking for more footprint than a compact idol needs. Mushak’s presence at the base also means the piece reads correctly from any angle in the room, not just head-on — something worth considering if the statue is going somewhere it’ll be seen from the side as often as from the front, like a hallway shelf or an entryway console.
