Details
The sound of trickling water has long been used in Indian courtyards to soften a space and slow it down, and there's no more natural vessel for that sound than terracotta. This fountain layers four hand-thrown clay basins, each rimmed with a scalloped edge and finished with carved floral motifs, so water cascades from the topmost cup down through connecting spouts into a wide basin below.
Every tier is shaped by hand by artisan potters in Udaipur — thrown on the wheel, joined, and detailed with floral carvings and connecting spouts before the entire piece is air-dried and kiln-fired. Building a multi-tier fountain this way, without moulds, is a slow, skilled process, since each basin has to be proportioned to sit, drain, and balance on the one below it.
The fountain works with a small water pump (not included) that recirculates water from the base basin up through the tiers, creating a continuous flow suited to a garden corner, patio, balcony, or entryway. Its warm terracotta tone pairs well with greenery, string lights, and stone.
Being made entirely from natural clay, the surface will develop a gentle, weathered patina over time with exposure to water and air — part of the character of genuine terracotta, not a flaw.
