Tea might be the single oldest ritual still practiced daily by most of the world, and the vessel it’s made in genuinely changes the result more than people tend to give it credit for. This hand-thrown clay teapot brings that older tradition into a fully functional contemporary shape — hand-engraved with delicate line and cross motifs across the body and lid, fitted with a proper pouring spout, a lid knob, and a loop handle sized for comfortable everyday use.

Clay interacts with steeping tea differently than metal or glass does. The slight porosity in the fired clay tends to soften the sharper bitterness that stronger teas can develop, and because fired terracotta holds heat more gradually than thin ceramic, a pot of tea brewed in it tends to stay at a genuinely drinkable temperature for longer without needing a cosy or a reheat.

The engraved pattern — radiating lines and cross forms worked into the surface before firing — isn’t purely decorative either. It’s what separates this from a plain utilitarian pot, giving it enough visual richness to sit out on a counter or table between uses rather than needing to be tucked away. The hand-thrown form carries real weight and balance in the hand, built to actually be picked up and used rather than displayed and admired from a distance.

At roughly 600–700ml capacity, it suits a couple of full cups per steep — practical for daily use, and distinctive enough as an object that it makes a genuinely considered gift for anyone who takes their tea seriously. The spout is shaped specifically to pour cleanly without dribbling down the side, a small functional detail that separates a genuinely usable teapot from one that only looks good sitting still on a shelf.

  • Material — Natural terracotta clay, hand-thrown, hand-engraved
  • Capacity — Approximately 600–700ml
  • Good for — Herbal tea, green tea, chai, gifting, display

  • First use — Rinse thoroughly, then fill with water and let sit a few hours to season the clay.
  • Brewing — Fine for cold or warm brews; warm the pot gradually rather than pouring boiling water straight into a cold one.
  • Washing — Hand wash only, plain water — skip soap inside the pot, since it gets absorbed by the clay.
  • Drying — Air dry fully with the lid off after each use.
  • Steer clear of — Direct flame, induction, microwave, dishwasher, and drops.
